BUTTONS

Heritage is one of the key words in today´s fashion, the world asks for more quality and less fashion non-sense. Rediscovering the old methods to produce garments, the eldest fashion utensil have claimed its place, that is surely the button.

This little item insignificant apparently, was first used over 3,000 years ago (easy to say, hard to imgine) in the bronze age, they were not used for fasten but as a mere decoration... In 1200 with the crusaders, We (europeans), borrowed this idea from further cultures which this time used them to fasten the garments. A century later, buttons provoked a fashion revolution, it was a huge bussiness. By the XV century the button returned to its origin: it was used as a fashion decoration, among the nobility in the courts. They were a symbol of the value of the garment, and therefore of the person who wore it aswell.

It was not until 1930's when the button was finally beaten by the zip (which was marketed with that name after eight decades from when Elias Howe invented the predecessor of the it, named "Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure".
and this year buttons have re-come back.
