ART DECO

Art deco is an eclectic artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s as a reaction to the purely functional and practical spirit of the Industrial Revolution. It flourished internationally throughout the 30s, into the World War II era, influencing all areas of design.

Its characteristics departure from the flowing asymmetrical organic curves inspired by the nature of its predecessor style
art nouveau; it embraced influences from many different styles of the early twentieth century, including neoclassical, contrusctivism, cubism, modernism and futurism.
Although many design movements have political or philosophical beginnings or intentions, art deco was purely decorative.
