MEN, 15 TRENDS

For all men, 15 ways to look great ;)
(no worries, i didn't go extravagant)

1. White
Every summer somebody thinks he has had the absolute ultimate idea, and invites you to a wear-white-party, well guys this summer do not wait for the occasion because everyday you will have the chance.

Ermenegildo Zegna

2. Bright colours
I considere a bit funky men wearing these bright colours, but as everything, it depends on your own style, if you can pull it off or you can't. If your style is very traditional you can always play with little things as a scarf, the line of your shirt...

Jil Sander

3. Earth tones
The nomad style has come this summer for both men and women, so guys it does not matter if we are not anymoer in wintertime, beige and browns are your colours as well.

Ermenegildo Zegna

4. Clashing colours
This summer you have to combine very strong colours, or complementary colours together. I love the colour orange with this navy blue, If you don't want to have a young look, keep always a dark colours to contrast with other more cheerful.

Ermenegildo Zegna

5. Motifs
Checks, prints, motifs, be very careful if you are choosing a print, chose a smart slogan don't just wear any image, that look always remind me teenagers. With the prints pick one elegant and small, for a small item, don't be too much. If you are not sure about motifs and prints, you can play to win with checks.

D&G

6. Stripes
Vertical and horizontal, multicolor or bicolor, the stripes are one of the biggest trend,  the blue and white to have a navy look, it's over! so don't stick to it. Instead experiment with other possibilities, parcheesi colours are the right choice.

Michael Bastian

7. Leather and suede
Yes, winter fabrics in summer as well. I advise you to use leather in the jackets and accessories, it will also look good in a small application like in the pockets of a pair of troussers... Suede will work exactly for the same things.

Ermenegil Zegna

8. 70's
The gangster look, bell shaped pants, printed shirts, leather jackets, light colours troussers, vintage items.... everything that reminds you  to 1970 is what you should wear, BUT don't just imitate the fashion in those days, give to your look something very modern.

Gucci

9. Boys Scouts
Say hello to your childhood because it is coming back. This look ready to get in touch with the nature and experiment adventures is your look. The colours: beige, blue, and redish colours. The fabrics: rain proof, knitwear, and cotton are the key. A backpack is the perfect accessory.

Ermenegildo Zegna

10. Shorts
This summer you will have to keep it short and show your legs. Personally I am not a big fan of men wearing shorts however i saw this look and found it very cute and elegant. if you are wearing them wear them actually shorter than the knee, and dont wear them with a t-shirt, choose a shirt or a polo shirt.

Gant

11. Dandy
The lady like has its equivalent in menswear. Be a knight, be a gentleman, be a dandy. Keep your look traditional and tailored, and please make you manners correspond your outfit.

Dunhill

12. Over sized
Big trousers, big blazer, big shirt...everything is huge. Make sure you pick very elegant fabrics, and very well made garments if you don't want to end up looking like a rapper. don't wear everything oversized at once, combine one big with one small.

Lacoste

13. Mille feuille
Multilayer is the word. Like suede and leather, this trend is also common in winter but not in summer, however designers seem to have thought this is going to be a cold summer...

Billy Reid

14. Scarfs
You will have a way to show your creativity. By wearing a rare scarf you will stand out, so have your eyes wide open an pick something very extravagant and chic to wear, the way you wear it is also important. It's not the same in spiral, than with a knot, or loose...

Michael bastian

15. Bags
For those very "macho" this summer you will not only hold your girlfriend bag, but your own bag. There is a huge wave of men wearing bags, this might be happening since you don't have time to come back home before going to the gym after work. I don't know exactly the reason, what I know is that it looks good, and not feminine at all!

ALL HATS!

any SIZE, any SHAPE, but wear a HAT!

From size S to size XL, softer or more rigid, all the hats are welcome this summer. Many designers have chosen this accessory as the main one for their collections this 2011.

Bucket hat, Fishing hat, Reni hat in the U.K, Dixie cup hat in the United States, Giggle hat in Australia, Ispoti in South Africa, Rafael hat in Israel... This hat has that many names because its known in every country. Why? well this hat has everything: is small, practical, effective, cute, sophisticated... ALL!

The Navy sailor hat had to be a must among the spring summer fashion catwalks, no other hat resembles the summer spirit so well. Christian Dior have wanted to recreate the U.S Marine Corps style with his collection.

The Panama Hat, this eco hat is made from the toquilla plant and is traditionally brimmed. The origin of these hat is Ecuatorian, in the late 19th century they reached Panama before sailing for other further destination like Asia or Europe, and that is why they are called "Panama hats". Worldwide personalities like president Theodore Roosevelt and Eloy Alfaro glorified this hat and make establish its reputation.

in the late 70's there was a variation of the Panama hat, it was very trendy, the modification on it consist in a wider brim, and the colour white was the favorite. This trend got its peak when Michelle pfeiffer worn it in "Scarface"1981.

Rubens one of the most well known painters from all times, not only had a good taste in art matters but also in women and fashion. His wife here in this wedding portrait, showed the latest fashion of that era, the hat, so nicely shaped seems to have been the inspiration for Carolina Herrera this year.

In the 70's "taxi driver" showed us the streets of the trendy New York, in that decade young Jodie Foster made us remember her by her big hat and her short hot pants, and that is exactly what you can do! Cause an impact in those eyes are going to see you.

In the first half of the sixteenth century, the men's costume went from the rigidity and exuberant style to one much more casual and easy to wear, the cavalleresc style was born. The men thought that wearing what they wore in the fighting field would give them both comfortability and masculinity.

Charles I of England by Van Dyck 1635
Women in those days, for the first time in hundreds of years again, started wearing some of the trends men wearing as well, what we know today as cross-gendering. This women worn their hats, and as the fashion evolved the masculine hats grew bigger in size and in accessories, and this accessory became unisex.

Henrietta Maria, Van Dyck 1633

The designers this spring summer have come to the same conclusion, hats are in, and if they are huge they will make a more noticeable impact, so... why no?

I love this huge hat, though is an exaggeration in comparison with other, this hat might be very useful at the beach for those who show concern and want to keep their skin away from the sun.
