LONDON FASHION WEEK AW11/12

I had the privilege to be asked to help in Charles Anastase fashion show.
I was very nervous and enthusiastic about it, although i knew i wasn't indispensable.

We arrived to the place at 8.30 (what we find early) but apparently people had been working there for hours. The backstage was full of all the kind of people performing different works.

This lady was talking to the press and bloggers explaining the collection. She was actually very involved into any activity.

The models although being in this extremely high shoes they were all the time walking around following the guidelines.
I have never thought their job was so hard, and I am not talking about the catwalk in itself... They have random people chasing them! asking them to do things and millions of hands all them (make up, fabric arrangements, hair dressing)...well, If i was them I will end up shouting, I have no patience.

Although I have watched many films about fashion shows, seeing where they set up all the stuff and how they displayed all the elements to build up the look of the models impress me a lot. It's so messy and arty i loved it.

That is myself in the middle of this chaotic space. We had to wait until the models were ready to get dress, and in the meanwhile we were just walking around learning everything we saw.

Below the collection board of Charles Anastase. It was good to see how He arrange all the looks it is always really hard to keep the same mood throughout all the collection.

Models were hustling in all direction, while the rest of professionals were doing other jobs. I could not figure out how after all the rushing and nobody in charge of everything all people manage to do what they were supposed to.

As you see the situation was quite overwhelming for me. I kept my eyes open trying to absorb all the exicitement.

One hour up to the show start they put all the rails in a line and where right next to it the models were going to be dressed.

After moving all the clothes the models were again the stars, they were seated and their make up was done, the removed all the pins from the hair to produce the final result of their beauty.

Eyes, hair dryer and straightener, and pictures, all at the same time.

Finally, it was the time for us to do something. We were in charge to dress a model, each model had 2 to 3 outfits. The first of them it is easy as you have sometime to arrange the clothes, however the second/thierd one is like a race.

We were asked to remove all the garments as fast as we could, It did not matter if We had to through everything to the floor, as long as we did it on time. They had just a few seconds to wear the second outfit, and then someone start calling their names (actually shouting their names) because they have to catwalk in that precisely moment.

Amy was the model that I had to dress and undress. I saw the picture and though "she is pretty" but when i actually saw her in person, she was gorgeous, too much!
They all seem so delicate and fragile, They looked from out of this world.

Once the first outfit was on them, they were queueing at the back of the door, and the final touches were done. They were also photographed there.

An then the show start...

The collection was amazing, it was a combination of traditional but nicely shaped garments. The textures were amazing i remember that all the shirts are touched were soft, you cannot see that on the pictures though.

They were metal applications in several outfits, as well as a futuristic hint on everything. It had a young  spirit, they looked like dolls in some outfits but with strength and solidity.

This is the model that I dressed, I was very pleased because both the garments and She, were absolutely fabulous.

This is how the showroom looked when everything was over, after the applause of the whole crowd of spectators and after all the greets.

It was such an experience... :)
