ANJELICA & FLORENCE, gucci

Anjelica Huston

Florence Welch (florence + the machine)

"Before Gucci's 90th anniversary show today, Frida Giannini cited a pair of influences: Anjelica Huston, as lensed by the photographer Bob Richardson, and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine. That first reference point meant we were back in the 1970's again. "
"...."
"Backstage, Giannini said the long dresses were the Florence Welch part of the equation, explaining that she could picture the chanteuse rocking one of them on stage. But they wouldn't have looked out of place on Anjelica circa 1970-something, either. The seventies are understandably dear to both the Gucci brand and its creative director, though coming off a Spring season where so many designers were indebted to the decade, that meant this collection lacked the shock of the new. Still, you can't fault the luxe factor of today's show or the fact that there was so much wantable, wearable fashion on the runway, that fab patent skirt not least of all."

KATE patterns

Vogue Brazil, Mario Testino,Kate Moss...
(all fashion synonyms)

I saw this photo shoot, and although is very commercial it cost me a bit to find what is the message, well in fact i don´t know if i got it right. So I would say IN MY OPINION, Testino is talking about patterns, different figures or images, repeated in a succession.  It doesn´t matter if the pattern is a bathroom tile, a painted curved line on a t-shirt, a foundry door, some plaits in a restaurant, or Kate Moss herself...

WINTER MOURNING

I know July is too soon to talk about next winter, when is so hot in the streets and all you can think about is the swimming pool/ the beach (for the lucky ones)... but I am gonna try to place you in the coolest season. Listening to 42, coldplay, I want you to admire you this sinister black trend. It does not matter if black is the star almost every winter season, because this time black talks about uncleared facts, hidden themes, shadows, it tries to protect the body causing confusion with layers or austere silhouettes.
Is fashion in mourning of something?
